Health myth 1: coconut oil is good for you.

Coconut oil is in fact higher in saturated fat (the type linked to high cholesterol and heart disease) than butter and lard; hardly the superfood we’ve been led to believe. How it impacts our health depends on the form and the amount we consume. Like a lot of things, it’s therefore best to consume coconut oil in moderation.

Health myth 2: juice cleanses are key for detoxing and weight loss.

Not only is going on a ‘cleanse’ simply unnecessary (we have our liver to detox for us already), it can be dangerous if done for a long period of time and without proper supervision. It severally restricts calories, could lead to nutrient deficiencies as well as causes sharp spikes in blood sugar over the day, to name a few side effects.  

Health myth 3: sit-ups will give you a flat stomach.

Many people fall into the trap of thinking sit-ups are the key to an incredible torso. However, abdominal exercises alone are not enough to reduce abdominal fat; nutrition, as well as exercises that target core muscles, are also essential.
